Iron Savior – Titancraft

Label: AFM Records  Release: 20th May 2016   Playing Time: 51 Min

“Titancraft” is already the 9th studio album since 1997 which the Hamburg-based Hevay Metal institution Iron Savior has released Trademarks of the band are  fast riffs, fierce double bass drumming and Piet’s unique voice.

Although Iron Savior have already been in business for 20 years, they have never had their big breakthrough. It is a pity, especially because they really know how to write great songs (as you can easily find out on the “Live At The Final Frontier” live-cd). This time their release contains  really great ones as well, called ‘Way Of The Blade’ and ‘Gunsmoke’. There’s also a nice heavy ballad called ‘I Surrender’ which brings some variation into the double bass sound. Moreover,  the title track and ‘The Sun Won’t Rise In Hell’ are well-done too. The other 6 songs are more or less of average quality, which reduces the overall impression of this album, and even the great production (made by Piet himself) does not change that.
