Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
March-April 2024, PG-12, 1h 55min
SPOILER-FREE! The recent weather development in and around Helsinki delivered some extra promotion for this movie… but no ice, frost or snowstorm could keep me from watching this Ghostbuster adventure (and I don’t care about critics and “fans” who complain about everything anyway). I had enjoyed the first re-boot of this legendary franchise and in the sequel, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse.
The plot:
When the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
And that’s all I’ll say about it. Fans from “back then” surely enjoy the reunion – the original cast, slimy beings like this fat cutiepie and William Atherton as the mayor, and of course the well-known locations like the firehouse. Which means 2h of nice entertainment and I could not find much to complain about. Well, Carrie Coon and Paul Rudd behave maybe too much like an old married couple – if you know what I mean… I would have preferred some more color and dimension for their characters. But that’s about it – I find the young & old Ghostbusters simply adorable and this is a movie you have to watch on a big screen!
