Vicious Rumors – Concussion Protocol
Steamhammer / SPV release: August 26th , 2016
No need to introduce those Metal veterans from California I guess… and a well-equipped Metal music collection should include at least one of their classic albums. Therefore if you have no clue about this band yet, you can make up for this mistake and check out this album.
It´s the fifth under the roof of SPV, featuring newcomers Nick Holleman on vocals and Tilen Hudrap, and the title track is already a more than promising introduction. A solid mix of Power and Thrash Metal, with a tendency towards the latter, enriched by catchy choruses, e.g. Bastards or Take it Or Leave It. The Chemical Slaves riff alone will make Metal hearts beat faster, and apropos excellent guitar work – those harmonies and soli is the trademark of this band. Yet let’s not forget the vocals – Nick can prove his variety not only with a ballad-like Circle of Secrets. The final Life for a Life surprises with some serious growls– Wow, they can use that more often. This album is a candidate for a future VR classic.
