Pyramaze – Bloodlines
AFM Records release: June 23, 2023
Not only STALKER celebrates its 20th birthday, those Danes can also refer to two decades of band history. With every album, Pyramaze aim to develop and refine their particular style while simultaneously enhancing it with exciting new elements. A difficult balancing act that this international power metal formation has undertaken on their latest work “Bloodlines”. The ten songs feature a multitude of anthemic vocal melodies, rough guitar riffs and atmospheric keyboard passages. A dynamic groove provides an industrial metal feeling and creates incredibly catchy tracks. In addition, there are contributions from prominent guest musicians like Andrew Kingsley (Unleash The Archers), Olof Mörck (Amaranthe) and Tim Hansen, the son of Helloween/Gamma Ray legend Kai Hansen. In “Alliance”, an orchestra and a duet – Ad Infinitum/The Dark Side Of The Moon singer Melissa Bonny with Pyramaze frontman Terje Harøy – provide a certain rock musical feeling; the closing “Wolves” has everything a theatrical instrumental track requires. A successful mixture of industrial and power metal, only a little too theatrical for my taste from time to time.
Line-Up:
Terje Harøy (Vocals), Jacob Hansen (Guitars, Bass), Jonah Weingarten (Keyboards), Toke Skjønnemand (Guitars), Morten Gade Sørensen (Drums)
