Venus 5 -Venus 5

Label: Frontiers Records Release Date: 10.06.2022

Girl groups do not exist in Metal? You are wrong. Forget The Spice Girls, No Angels – now there are Venus 5, featuring Herma (SNB) Karmen Klinc, Jelena Milovanovic, Tezzi Persson (Infinite & Divine) and Erina Seitllari. The thought behind the band was really to form something like the Metal equivalent to the pop girl groups out there. Of course talent was the main focus …

However, somehow all of them are really pretty young girls with about the same clothing sizes… but they also have the talent in abundance, well well….. one could fight about this topic, I would admit. Singing is surely not a talent they own en masse. I would have loved to write something different, to get surprised positively, but no, unfortunately not. The girls are really pretty, and mixed their voices are all okay, but I cannot spot any outraging talents. I would say that with only one better singer this album could be a hit, as songs as “Monster under your bed” or “Tom and Ms Amy Lee” are really catchy. And there are more of those who remind me of Battle Beast. But with this Pop-voices it is just…Metal sung by Britney. I can sense one more metal voice in those 5 but who it is, no Idea. Well, luckily tastes are different.

The songwriting was done by great artists such as Jake (Cyrha, Ex-Amaranthe), Stefan Helleblad (Within Temptation) and Per Aldeheim (Def Leppard). The songs are not bad at all, but I honestly would see this project more as a performance at the Eurovision Song Contest than as a Metal album. The voices are not different enough from each other, a tour won’t pay of because you need too many musicians, with the right Merchandise, Meet and Greets one might make some money as some men might let drop their ears to their pants when seeing these beauties. But honestly, we don’t need such a kind of Girl Band in Metal music.
