Iconic – Second Skin

There’s a new supergroup coming up from Frontiers. Michael Sweet of Stryper (guitar and vocals), Joel Hoekstra of Whitesnake (guitars), Marco Mendoza of Thin Lizzy (bass), Tommy Aldridge of Whitesnake (drums) and Nathan James of Inglorious (vocals) have come together for the project Iconic.

Together with Frontier’s master songwriter Alessandro del Vecchio, the songwriting was done by Sweet and Hoekstra, while James wrote the lyrics for two of the songs.

All in all, great musicians who recorded an awesome album together. On some songs Sweet and James share the vocal parts. For me, James is an outstanding singer with a wider range than Sweet, but these two voices work very well together.

When you buy “Second Skin” of Iconic, you can look forward to awesome Rock hymns with many guitar solos of both guitar heroes Hoekstra and Sweet. 11 great songs you should not miss. I really can recommend the title track “Second Skin”, powerful with very nice vocal parts. “All I need” is a power ballad and “All about” really kicks ass.
