Crimfall – Amain
Metal Blade Records, released August 25, 2017
Live on stage I enjoyed this comeback already, but now Crimfall are also back with a new CD that came out a few days ago. Epic symphonic Metal with growls and female clean vocals, and from Finland, this style should be totally in. Musically Crimfall can easily compete with the better known Fold Metal colleagues Finntroll or Ensiferum, and Helena Haaparanta is definitely one of the best female Metal voices from the North. „Mother of Unbelievers“ is pure ear candy garnished with some sounds from the Further-East which can even be compared with a Nightwish hymn. I particularly like Crimfall when they express their Finnish heritage and use Joik like vocals – Helena evokes the magical atmosphere of a Shaman ritual. „Until Falls The Rain“ is one of those epic songs to represent the album as a whole – check out the video below. No weak song on „Amain (which btw deals with the topics “wars waged in vain, advocating freedom from religious dogmas and the bloody chains of tradition”), and I can only recommend this album.
Crimfall 2017:
Mikko Häkkinen (Vocals)
Helena Haaparanta (Vocals)
Jakke Viitala (Guitars)
Miska Sipiläinen (Bass)
Janne Jukarainen (Drums)
