Soulmatic: Mighty River

Label: Sonic Revolution, Release: 02.10.2015

“Mighty River” is Cologne-based Soulmatic’s second album, on which the instrumental parts surely play the leading role. On this album, the Blues rockers present themselves very experimental and, again and again, find new cool grooves that give their songs a good flow. Regarding the lyrics, there’s still room for improvement, in my opinion. There’s simply too much repetition, perhaps next time the band could put a bit more effort into it. The vocals, however, are very interesting and fit nicely to the sound. Werner Hammer might not be the best singer in the world but he’s not too shy to play around with his voice and that is to be applauded. Soulmatic’s Mighty River is perhaps not traditional Blues Rock but it’s still worth to listen to.
