The Physicists – My Love Is Dead

The live appearances of this band have always been a real treat – exciting as well as entertaining, as those guys always come up with some new (usually crazy) stuff.

Therefore you need to be prepared for pretty much anything when it comes to the album. And you will receive pretty much anything with a connection to the world of Electronic / Industrial music. Or pretty much anything between church choirs and Humppa.

My Love Is Dead, the soundtrack to a dystopian future, hits off with tracks that evoke references to Nine Inch Nails, or Marilyn Manson – sound scapes and Industrial Metal outbursts including Slipknot-moments. Afterwards it is time for the band’s approach to a Pop song (Wayne Newton Hullabaloo), before “Alcohol” gives you the impression that Cradle of Filth and Rammstein came together for a little studio jam session. A wicked kind of ear candy…

A certain touch of Industrial Black Metal can also be spotted in “Babylon” and “White Wine”, whereas the major tendency goes into experimental territories. No wonder, we are dealing with scientists here.

And maybe this is the best way to describe it – a musical laboratory with a lot to discover, audio-experiments in Mythbusters style, maybe less explosions, but still pretty noisy. And exciting. And fun.
