Dagorlath – 2010-2020

self-released      2021

The Spanish power metal band Dagorlath began their journey in late Since then they have released three albums ( 2010 Génesis, Inmortal in 2012 and 2015 Última alianza). For many years they had toured the entire national scene, consolidating themselves as a band among Spanish and Latin American audiences.played many tours and also gained some recognition abroad.

In 2020 they self-produced their 10th anniversary album 2010-2020, re-recording their best songs in order to celebrate the first 10 years of the band.

Thus, this album is a cross-section of their work and also an about 50 min time travel to depict the development of this band. As the band name already suggests, Middle Earth is a preferred theme of the exclusively Spanish lyrics.

The song material focuses in the beginning on the high-speed material. And right from the start, the guys show high skills and create catchy melodies. Dani Hernández has a pleasant timbre, the vocals are not too high pitched. The first tracks of this album still sound too much like 08/15 Helloween and consorts – indeed the early phase of the band. Then they develop their style, bring in epic, groovy elements and create much more varied Speed/Power Metal anthems, which can easily compete with Sabaton & Co. See for example Despartar or La caida de Numenor with this fantastic guitar lick.

The ballad El eco de tu adiós is less memorable than the following high-speed track Mithrandir, which impresses with catchy riffs and licks as well as the brilliant number Entre Sombras.

Conclusion, a successful time travel compilation and who is a fan of mentioned bands should definitely check out this one too.
