Silius – Worship to Extinction

Label: Rock of Angels Records  Playing Time: 45 Min  Release 28th August 2020

The Austrian Thrashers have been active since 2013. They already released an album in 2017, called „Hell Awakening“ and they already well-known festivals like Nova Rock, Wacken and Metaldays. Those are the facts that made me curious.

So I put the CD in and the headphones on and gave it try. After the first cycle I was still without opinion. So I gave it a new try. And even more tries in the following days. Meanwhile I made my judgement: The band can not meet my expectations. Very simple guitar riffs meet vocals without charisma and choruses without ear candy appeal. The result are songs without any identity. In addition, there are guitar solos which are played well in terms of technical skills, but which are not embedded well into the songs. So they do not serve the songs, but rather disrupt them instead. Only the production and the the opening song ‚Worship‘ meet my expectations. That’s not very much…
