Issa – Run with the Pack

Label: Frontiers Records Vö/Release: 20.04.2018

Back in 2015, the Norwegian lady ISSA released her last album. Now she’s back with “Run with the Pack”. Three years on, her trademarks are still her high, soft voice and the Melodic Rock sounds. But you can hear that she’s learned a lot in the meantime. Her singing made a huge leap forward – even though sometimes her vocals are still a bit too high for my taste.

On “Run with the Pack” , there’s a really great duet (“Sacrifice Me”) with Deen Castronovo (Revolution Saints, ex-Journey). These two voices fit together nicely and thus, it is one of my favourite tracks of the album. All in all, this time the songs, especially “How Long”, remind me of Vixen – except that ISSA doesn’t have nearly as much roughness in her voice as these legendary hard rock ladies. On the other hand, this clean quality of her voice is ISSA’s trademark.

“Run with the Pack” is a great new album from ISSA – arranged by Alessandro del Vecchio, by the way – and it will certainly look good in your Melodic Rock collection at home. ISSA is an awesome female vocalist offering many great songs.
