Avengers: Infinity War
PG-13 / 2h 29min / 27 April 2018 / SPOILER-FREE!
Isn’t a dream coming true? (Almost) all your favourite superheroes who excited us in recent years, united in one single movie! All three divine Chris-es from the Marvel universe – Evans, Hemsworth, Pratt – plus Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch)! Loki (Tom Hiddleston)! Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and the brave nation of Wakanda!! Iron Man (Robert Downey jr.)! Hulk (Mark Ruffalo)! Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)! Gamora (Zoe Saldana)! Rocket and Groot!! And and and – sorry, I simply cannot name them all …
All united in a breath-taking flick that keeps you mesmerised and excited throughout, that never seems too long, dragging along, even boring (like the second Avengers film) – even 2,5 hours somehow feel like way too short. Several loose story lines in the Marvel universe are finally knit together. Well, that’s a slight disadvantage as you better know some of the older Marvel super hero movies, at least Thor Ragnarök, in order to understand what’s going on, especially in the beginning.
The big bad dude in this one should also be a familiar evil character that remained in the background in several Marvel movies before: Thanos. His goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. The fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain, therefore the powers of good need to unite … And that’s all I want to reveal about the content of this Avengers / Guardians of the Galaxy / Captain America / Spiderman / Black Panther / Dr. Strange / Thor crossover…
A fantastic roller coaster ride, visually and emotionally – you will laugh, cry, wonder, feel thrilled… and one thing is 100 % certain, the ending will leave you *gasp* open-mouthed.
And perhaps you might feel slightly frustrated too (hence not the full points).
Therefore, in case you wanna save yourself the frustration, just don’t watch the movie. Especially not in 3D which might drag you in with those amazing camera movements. Superhero movies are for kids only anyway. Someone who won’t stop at nothing for personal gain and more power, something like that never happens in real life. Or who needs a topic like “keep hope and resistance even when facing the most difficult situation” translated into a movie plot, we can do without that in real life.
Therefore, for your peace of mind, better stay at home and do some crosswords. Remember that I gave you a warning… 🙂
PS: Writers Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely and Regisseure Anthony and Joe Russo deserve to be mentioned for their awesome job
