Bloodred Hourglass – Heal

Label: Ranka Kustannus    release: Oct 2017    length: 46:25

„Melodic Death Metal from Finland“ should be already a recommendation. And yes, once again those dudes from Mikkeli prove the positive impression I gained from their live shows and the previous longplayer  „Lifebound“. Heavy guitars on the spot, catchy tunes and choruses, addictive groove and a touch of melancholy. Or – as I tried to describe it before –  Children Of Bodom meets Soilwork, Finnish top quality Melo-Death mixed with the Swedish style. The band’s third album „Heal“ offers Melo-Death offers ear candy from start to finish, and the latter is remarkable. The epic final track „Requiem of our last days“ sticks out, first because of about 11 min length, secondly because of those Prog elements mixed into it – a natural development of their style which is executed with ease. An album you can play non-stop all day and will still enjoy it afterwards.

Therefore let’s hope that “Heal” puts Bloodred Hourglass finally among the big names in the scene, as they deserve it. Looking forward to their upcoming shows in Finland (check band website).
