Captain America: Brave New World

12.2.2025, PG-12, 1 h 58 min

SPOILER-FREE PART:
Presumably the 4th Captain America adventure had its share of badmouthing from a certain “fanbase” way before its release by Marvel Studios. In the US, many no longer hide their hatred of everything non-male / other-than-highly-bleached complexion, others don’t want comics/movies/art connected in any way to anything remotely “real world politics” (even though back in 1943 even Donald Duck fought Nazis and maybe remember the origins of Superman). Plus, anything coming from US America isn’t actually popular in the rest of the world at the moment…

Maybe let’s just forget and ignore all that.

Yes, Marvel had struggled recently, but this movie is one of those not to miss – plus, perhaps it will be your last chance to see such movies ever again …

Too close to reality, so it seems, even back then in 2021 with  “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” on Disney+. In which not the best qualified and chosen by the Cap gets the job but some random, less appropriate dude just because of his “better” skin tone – who promptly screws it up and the whole world seems to go down the drain …

and in real life, we actually are at exactly this point right now.

On screen, there is hope because there is Captain America: Anthony Mackie alias Sam Wilson fully convinces in the movie, just like in the series, and provides new dimension and a genuine depth to this character – simply because he is “just a human being” and not a super-charged super soldier. Joaquin Torres as the new Falcon (introduced 2021 in the Disney+ show) is such a delight so that you want to see more adventures with and about him soon. And Harrison Ford is always a pleasure to watch, no matter what critics gotta babble about (eg the latest Indy movie).
Actually I’d feel much safer if Harrison Ford was indeed the real US president – either as his grumpy self or even in his role here as Thaddeus Ross, which he took over from William Hurt who passed away in 2022. Unfortunately, we live in the part of the Multiverse where Thanos made the brains of  50 % of voter population disappear …

BEWARE, SPOILERS! (simply skip to summary)
On screen you see Earth on the edge of a world war, where the US president himself turns out to be the biggest threat to peace, to reason… well, we need to admire the movie makers for their powers of clairvoyance.
The Red Hulk with Harrison Ford’s face is intimidating – just like an angry Harrison Ford without CGI – but still displays a soul and the danger seems to be containable. Unlike our reality with the actual horror in the White House and across the world, caused by unhinged AI fascists. In our reality, unfortunately there is no Captain America, no Falcon or no potential candidates for a new Avengers team to save the world and democracy. When the real Red-Hat-Hulks win, there surely won’t be any movies  any more with a Captain America who beats up Nazis, where Fascism characterizes the bad guys…

All that is left for us is hoping that this movie’s powers of clairvoyance remain accurate, when the final scenes show the US president behind bars, in a single cell, in a high security facility. May this become reality, please, and very very soon.

Summary: The final – including the post-credit scene – and various cameos will surely cheer you up and give you hope when facing world events, therefore go and watch Captain America 4, and in 3D!
