New Horizon – Conquerors
Label: Frontiers Music s.r.l. Release: 14 June 2024
Symphonic Melodic / Power Metal is not quite my expertise, but when I stumbled over the video clip to the New Horizon Single “Daimyo”, absolutely epic ear candy, I simply had to hear more. And I didn’t have to regret this decision, because the New Horizon debut album “Conquerors” offers solid high quality Metal from Sweden. Behind the project are band mastermind / multiinstrumentalist Jona Tee and Sänger Nils Molin (Dynazty, Amaranthe), who could be recruited after vocalist Erik Grönwall left to join Skid Row. There’s nothing better to wish for, high quality song writing, epic tunes delivered by a great, versatile and not-too-high voice, you’ll get intelligent lyrics content (besides 16th century feudal Japan, narrating the saga of the renowned unifier Oda Nobunaga, e.g. the Apollo mission) and a string of ear-candy songs, not just the abovementioned … basically ALL songs have ear candy quality! Actually, it took me a bit to realize that the final track is a Maiden-coverversion – which should speak for the quality of this duo, which is supported by many big names in the scene here. Therefore I can only recommend this album to fans of the genre, and all other Metalheads should definitely lend an ear, too!
