Trillium – Tectonic

Label: Frontier Records Vö/Release: 08.06.2018

Finally, the wait is over – with “Tectonic”, Trillium , the band of power woman, Amanda Somerville, enters the second round. Together with her husband, Sander Gommans, she recorded this album all on her own. With this duo one can be sure to get high quality music and meaningful lyrics with a message.

And exactly because Trillium don’t do party music, which you listen to only passively, it takes three or four runs before you start to hear all the details, the fine nuances of a song and can sing along. In a world with dumb songs that are all about partying, this is really refreshing. Vocally, Amanda is a real pro – from high to low notes, she can do it all and is not too shy to show it. She might not be the ultimate rock singer but she has lots of power and you can easily recognise her voice out of hundreds.

Personally, I think that the first album, “Alloy”, was more Rock or simply darker and harder than “Tectonic”. But still, the songs are awesome and with “Hit Me”,”Fatal Smile” and “Shards”, there are three excellent songs on the album, which you don’t want to miss. Considering the fact that they managed to do this album alongside their other bands and raising three small children, they deserve extra praise for the great job with “Tectonic”.
