Bloodbound – War Of Dragons

Label: AFM Records     Playing Time: 46 min    Release: 24th February 2017

Bloodbound from Sweden have become a constant institution in the realm of Power Metal. “War Of Dragons” is their latest release and it deals with – surprise surprise – dragons. More cliché is actually not possible!

But cliché doesn’t matter. It is the music that matters, and the music is well-done. In 2017, Bloodbound play Power Metal with bombastic touch, comparable to their Swedish brothers Sabaton or Hammerfall at times of “Crimson Thunder”.  When talking about Hammerfall, I am sure that vocalist Joacin Cans took a part in the opener ‘Battle In The Sky’. But namedropping is not necessary to make this album interesting. Songs like the title track, ‘Silver Wings’ and ‘Fallen Heroes’ are all good enough by themselves. For sure, the brothers Olsson an their buddies do not re-invent Metal, but they know what they do and they do it well. Therefore all fans of bands like Sabaton, Hammerfall or Avantasia should check out this one!
