Klone – Unplugged
Label: Pelagic Records; Release: 17/02/2017
To be fair, Klone weren’t a particularly heavy band before attempting this unplugged album, so the effects are modest when compared to the original versions. That being said, some of acoustic guitar work on this French progressive bands’ latest album is pretty impressive in places. Most of the tracks on the album are taken from their last 2 albums, but there is a notable cover of “People are People” by Depeche Mode, (a track I actually dislike) made good here. The album as a whole is probably more of a fan essential, but for anyone looking to get into this band may not be the best introduction with it not really showing the true progressive nature of the bands’ sound with this stripped back style.
Standout track: Rocket Smoke, probably the most technical song on the album regarding chord progressions and vocals. Really gives the album a kick towards the end. A real Alice In Chains Unplugged feel to this effort.
