Darker Half: Never Surrender

Release: 5.2.2016 Label: Fastball-Music

In 2009, the band Darker Half, hailing from Australia, released their first album called “Duality”. Now, after countless gigs with bands like Paul Di’Anno and Queensryche on Australian and American grounds, the four guys are back with their third album “Never Surrender”. In case you have never heard of Darker Half before, the guys mainly play classic Power Metal, with some progressive influences. Singer Vo Simpson is on pitch with every note on this album, no matter how high it might be. All in all, the sound harmonises really well and guitarists as well as their fans can look forward to excellent guitar solos. The ten songs on the record are solid and well-done – perhaps they are not as catchy as they could be but still I’m sure they will make everyone, fan or not, headband and sing along. I especially like “As Darkness Fades”. The chorus of this song is simply great, great melody, great rhythm and lyrics. This is a good album that not only Power Metal fans should check out. By the way, in June the band will tour through Europe for the very first time.
