The Fall Guy
30. April 2024, PG-12, 2h 6min
Two movies – one was better, one not quite as brilliant as I had expected.
The first one I watched only because I had a deadline coming for a premium coupon and Furiosa wasn’t available yet… and because such a movie only looks great on a big screen. And ended up being positively surprised, not only because of those AWESOME comfortable seats in this LUXE theater (which I can only recommend).
The Fall Guy is inspired by a 1980 TV series:
He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?
A movie about making a movie – exciting, funny, over-the-top with a tongue-in-cheek attitude and occasionally as meta as Deadpool. Within the first 5 minutes I felt perfectly entertained and that impression continued for the full upcoming 2 hours. It seems Ryan Gosling cannot do anything wrong and we all love Emily Blunt in whatever role
– and Aaron Taylor-Johnson is once again on “Kick Ass” awesomeness level (his accents, hilarious). It’s a loving tribute to the underappreciated stunt people out there, huge compliment to stunt designer Chris O’Hara and the whole stunt team.
Extremely entertaining movie I can only recommend.
