Hanging Garden – The Garden
Label: Agonia Records release: 24.3.2023
Hanging Garden is one of those Finnish bands you can just grab the album. Every single release of those Doom Metallers means high quality, and this 8th studio album in their career named The Garden proves it once again.
The opener, the title track, gives a good impression what is to come – catchy melodies, contrast between growls and angelic (female) voice, wrapped into this overwhelming melancholy which on the other hand is soooo beautiful – this one is definitely among the top ranking releases of this band. Well, if anybody could actually come up with such a ranking, it would be extremely difficult and/or based on very subjective personal preferences. My taste, for example, rather goes with those tracks with the rougher Metal attitude, here e.g. The Construct, The Fireside; several of my friends prefer the band’s epic-atmospheric songs. And there’s the question many other Finnish bands have in common – do they even have ANY bad output at all?
In other words, when it’s Hanging Garden, simply buy it.
