Red Eleven, Thy Row @ On The Rocks
8.11.2018, On the Rocks Helsinki, Finland
You can assume the bands are really good when a Helsinki club is nicely filled on a Thursday. The first act surprises with a well-known character in the line-up, namely Asim Searah from Wintersun. What can go wrong? And indeed, Thy Row prove with the second gig they have ever played that this is a force to reckon with, even though the kick-off with the “Rock You” Queen cover might not quite have worked as planned. The band gets the crowd within minutes into party mode! You can check out both songs of this brand new act via Spotify. Bandwebsite
Red Eleven and their great mix of various genres, carried by catchy melodies and a very capable vocalist – Faith No More meets Finnish Metal – have been among my faves for quite a while. Somehow I totally missed the opportunity to review their EP “Fueled By Fire”, released this spring, therefore I recommend it now here (see the links on the Bandwebsite). The song “Redneck’s Promised Land” is worth to check it out, and no wonder this one is a party hit also on this evening. The new guy on drums, Samuli Saari, not only does a great job, he also likes photographers… And I simply let the images talk about this energetic high-octane show (here the interactive gallery or click on a photo and enjoy via Flickr).
This time the audience seems to be aware of better keeping a certain distance – although singer Tony leaves the “mingling with the crowd” until the last third of the show. And surely there’s an encore, the U2-Cover “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me”, sooo cool, I love this song! I can only recommend not to miss those guys when they visit Hellcity again (or your town)!
