Malmö Melodic Festival: Music paradise and danger
July 25-27, 2025, Plan B, Malmö, Sweden
A music paradise in one of the most dangerous cities in Europe.
During the summer Sweden blows up with never-ending rock and metal festivals all over the country.
There are countless amounts of outdoor festivals, that’s why Malmö melodic definitely stands out from the crowd as (probably) the only indoor summer festival in Sweden.
This event is quite new, but surprisingly it was almost sold out. All 3 festival days the Plan B venue was filled with people from all over the world and VIP tickets were gone a long time ago. It’s quite incredible, considering the fact that it’s not so easy and affordable to travel to Malmö and the venue was located in one of the most criminal areas of the city. But nothing stopped real hard rock fans. I’ve seen many people from really faraway countries like South America, Japan and USA.
The lineup gathered the best AOR bands from Sweden, UK, Finland, Germany and Denmark with FM headlining the first evening, followed by Treat for the second evening and Kissin’ Dynamite (start photo) for the final act.
The program was quite intense; the first bands started playing already at 12 in the afternoon and finished around midnight. The organizers also offered meet and greet events with the majority of the attending bands, so nobody went home unsatisfied or without cool merchandise.
Looks like this new indoor festival is growing in its popularity: Right after the final performance ended the festival weekend, the tickets for Malmö Melodic 2026 were released and guess what – all early bird VIP tickets are already sold out!
If you are 80s music fan and can’t handle outdoor summer festivals with camping in always unreliable weather – now you know where to go next summer.
PS: So how about the danger?
Malmö is the third largest city in Sweden after Stockholm and Gothenburg, home to over 365,000 people, a true melting pot of cultures, with residents hailing from over 170 countries. The Swedish city has a dangerous side as well, with crimes beyond the usual pickpocketing: bombings, shootings, arson, and other violent attacks often take place between rival groups, but mainly concentrated in specific areas, which tourists should better avoid.
