Jelusick in Izola: Croatian metallers take over a holiday resort

Izola is a beautiful resort town in the Southern part of Slovenia right at the Adriatic coast. When you think about this kind of places you just imagine tourists and beach vacation. But just for one night this quite resort place turned into rock capital thanks to Jelusick.

Jelusick is Croatian heavy metal band and despite of their young age, they are the biggest and the most significant metal band around all ex Yugoslavian countries. The band was formed by the very talented singer and musician Dino Jelusick, famous for his musical projects and collaboration with many outstanding musicians, as well as being part of the band Whitesnake.

The rest of the Jelusick members are also young and very successful music professionals. Guitarist Ivan Keller, an angelic looking boy, but when he starts playing guitar it literally gives you shivers. With his unique style he brings back the best from 80s that we love so much. Bassist Luka Brodaric, a very masculine pirate lookalike gentleman who tears down the stage every time he appears with his bass and particular manner of playing. I think I haven’t seen such a highly energetic bass player since forever. On the drums for this Europen tour, Jelusick hired the very talented Bulgarian drummer Nick Nikolaev. And that was a fantastic idea, Nick is one of the best drummers of our generation. If Tommy Lee (Mötley Crüe) and Yoshiki (X Japan) had a son, that would definitely be Nick. Let’s hope he will stay with Jelusick, his style of playing blends perfectly with band’s powerful music and vibe.

On this hot summer evening, the magical metal power of Jelusick brought a lot of crazy metal fans to this peaceful resort town. There were people from different countries, a big group of fans from Italy stood out especially, because they took almost the entire stage front row. People came long before the show just to be as close to the stage as possible. The venue – Letni kino Arrigoni – is an open summer cinema, they have concerts all summer and it looks like this Jelusick concert was the biggest and the most powerful show for this venue. I have to mention, Jelusick brought their own light and sound equipment and the whole stage just changed completely. For this venue, the band made a real miracle. The level of professionalism was impeccable and guys really knew how to make people wild and crazy.

It was so beautiful to see so many dedicated fans, lots of people came to the show with balloons and posters to congratulate Dino, since he celebrated his birthday a couple of days ago. In the middle of the show, people united and sang happy birthday for him, it was a very touching moment.

The first class 2h show was a great present for all devoted fans, definitely something special. Each of the band members also pleased us with their incredible solo performances. After the concert the guys gladly came to meet their devoted fans and took pictures with everybody.
I really recommend to catch this band when they play somewhere near you, it will be definitely a show to remember.
