Frontiers Rock – more than just a festival

This year, the first weekend of may many people will remember not just as a May Day celebration, but as a celebration of the best music, thanks to Frontiers rock festival. 3 days of pure rock’n’roll paradise with the coolest bands from all over the world.

Traditionally this festival is taking a place at Live music club in Trezzo Sull’ Adda (Italy). And as always, the organization was at the highest level possible. Frontiers music label always guarantee the best quality. Seeing other festivals in Italy, I can confirm that in every aspect Frontiers rock festival is definitely offering the best.
That’s why all 3 festival days were sold out. So many people from different parts of the world, you could hear so many diverse languages in a crowd. People were arriving with their entire families, it was so beautiful to see mothers and daughters, fathers and sons bonding by music. I had chance to speak with many people, for the majority of them this festival became like a family tradition, they visit it every year since ages.
Here for example mother and daughter from Switzerland with a fan from Belgium:

Since the last year, Frontiers Rock Festival has been expanded to 3 days (traditionally it was 2), which was a great present for all rock’n’roll fans. Trezzo Sull’ Adda is a very beautiful place, surrounded by a river and a lot of nature, so everybody could enjoy the fantastic weather outdoors before heading to the shows.

The line-up included some of the best and beloved bands from the 80s as well as the new generation. The opening day pleased us with swedish AOR bands Streetlight and Creye, well known and loved Shiraz Lane from Finland, the young Dan Byrne from the UK, for whom this festival was his first international show, the famed english singer and guitar player Russ Ballard and the American 80s melodic hard rockers Giant. The grand finale was performed by famous and and beloved Starship from USA. It felt like every person in the audience knew the words and was singing “Nothing’s Gonna Stop us now”, this song is like an ultimate soundtrack to the 80s.

The second day welcomed us with a lot of powerful and energetic bands: Fighter V from Switzerland were the perfect opening, this fantastic 80s sound is so rare to hear from young bands. Italian Hell in the club delivered a super strong and beautiful set, as always. Melodic AoR bands Atlantic from UK and Degreed from Sweden gave us a bit or relaxation and sweetness before the mighty Heavens Edge USA hit the stage. And Heavens Edge really know how to make the crowd sweat, jump and sing.

Which was the perfect preparation for one of the most famous, beloved and powerful swedish bands H.E.A.T.. These guys really know how to tear down the walls and to drive fans crazy. They electrified the audience so much, people even started moshpits. The perfect closure of the evening was performed by one of the most legendary 80s rock bands – Night Ranger. People in the crowd were singing every word of every song, it was incredible to see it. And Night Ranger delivered such a beautiful unforgettable performance.

The final day gave us a pleasure to see so many cool and versatile bands. IT’s A LIE from Italy gave a perfect kickstart of the day with their energetic performance. Followed by Transatlantic Radio, a unique international band with members from 3 different countries – Sweden, USA and Australia. Smoking Snakes from Sweden were invited to replace Frontline and it was such a great idea. This band has so much energy and fire, the audience just loved them. A lot of people were waiting for Confess from Sweden, it’s been 8 years since they were playing in Italy. And what a show they delivered!

It was great to hear new songs from upcoming album, they definitely kick ass. Also, Confess was practically the only band at the festival that spent so much time with their fans (here for example with fans from South America). No surprise why people love them so much. More about the band in our interview!

The well known American singer and guitar player John Corabi delivered, as always, a beautiful and classic hard rock show, calming down the audience after the Swedish invasion. One of the most expected bands at the festival was the American hard rock duo Nelson. Since the 80s these handsome blond brothers make all ladies fall in love with them. Their unforgettable romantic songs totally sweetened the night. When they were playing “After the rain” and “Love and affection”, every single person was singing alone with them.

stryper (2)

The American Christian metal band Stryper was a perfect final act for this amazing festival. And the audience totally loved them and went crazy singing along and dancing through the entire show. Stryper were incredible, I’m sure we all wished that their show will never end. But when the music stopped, people gathered around, they stayed, kept singing, dancing and hugging. Just like one big family united by the power of music.

It was so beautiful to see this connection of people of different age, from different countries. For many people Frontiers rock festival became more than just a festival. I wish every rock’n roll fan would have an opportunity to experience this magnificent festival and become a part of Frontiers family. Mark your calendars for the next year, Frontiers rock festival is definitely the one to see live.
