Sister: Full throttle!

Enjoy our quick shot interview with Jamie Anderson of the Swedish Sleaze Rock/Metal band Sister.

Could you tell us more about the recording of your new album “The Way We Fall”? What were the sessions like?
Everything went super smooth. No problems, just a really good flow.

What inspires you to write your music?
Darkness, evil, injustice, pain — that’s the stuff that sparks ideas.

Any favorite bands?
There are way too many good bands to choose from. But the ones I grew up with and still love are Twisted Sister, Mötley Crüe, Judas Priest… that whole era.

Do you like to combine different rock genres to create one sound?
I listen to a lot of music and a lot of different kinds of hard rock. That’s what happens when you don’t lock yourself into one style.

How did Sister form? What band were you in, Jamie, before joining Sister as vocalist in 2006?
I played in a school band back in junior high. We did a few gigs. I met Cari (Crow) outside a show, he said he needed a singer, and I joined right away. That’s how Sister started.

Any stories about being in Sister?
We started Sister when I was 16. Of course there are some great stories… and some less great.

What are Sister live shows like? Do you like playing live?
Full throttle. We’re a live band, and playing shows is basically why we exist. That’s where we feel alive.

What was it like opening for Skid Row and U.D.O.? What were those tours like?
It’s always cool to open for bands you grew up listening to. The Udo tour was wild — five weeks packed into a tiny van, no plan whatsoever. Shows were great, everything else was chaos. Fun to look back on now. The Skid Row tour was one of the best we’ve done. They’re insanely humble guys. Awesome dudes.

Any future plans and projects for the band?
Plan is to play as much as we can on the TWWF cycle, write even better songs, and then do it all again with the next record.
