Inglorious – We Will Ride

Label: Frontiers Records     Release Date: 12.02.2021

Right away from the start, «She won’t let you go” shows with all its power, what you will enjoy during the entire elven songs of this record. Inglorious are back with their fourth studio album “We Will Ride” and the first featuring the new band members. Danny Dela Cruz (guitar), Dan Stevens (guitar) and Vinnie Colla (Bass) had been supporting the original band members, drummer Phil Beaver and singer Nathan James, during the writing process.

It is also the first record the band recorded with a producer. In cooperation with Romesh Gogandoda, who has worked for Bring me the Horizon, Bullet for my Valentine and Motörhead, they have added a new twist to their music, which sounds a bit more modern than the three previous records. On occasion the music sounds slightly American and it’s just the right amount, impacting the song material in a positive way, working for the songs and not against them. What I mean with “American sound” is somewhat flat and too clean, way too much studio processed. Because one thing is clear to me – those guys and especially the vocals of Nathan James don’t need to be “cleaned”. Those guys are masters of their instruments and don’t need a mixing console on overdrive.

The album has a very smooth and easy-going flow from one song to another and still provides a lot of variety. A definite highlight is “Medusa” (released beforehand as album teaser). But this one is followed by a very intense song called “Eye of the Storm” with slow verses, taking up speed for the chorus and leading into a great groove with awesome lyrics. No matter which song you listen to, be it “My Misery” (check it out!), “We will meet again” or the title track “We will ride”, the last song of the album, you will feel uplifted by great music. Nathan James and his colleagues deliver, once again, another masterpiece. Awesome!
