Metalite – Biomechanicals

Label: AFM Records            Release: 25. October 2019

First of all, I notice the varied guitar work. Not necessarily a matter of course for melodic metal these days, there are colorful riff directives as well as rhythmic and ultra-soft arrangements and subdued tones. The Swedes managed to do it really fine and in a balanced fashion. The next anchor point is the variable voice of Erica Ohlsson. She sings mostly clean and reminds me of Amaranthe’s Elize. The exploration of genre boundaries is certainly one of the greatest peculiarities of Metalite.

Apart from that, Metalite doesn’t actually do much wrong on “Biomechanicals”. The sound is warm and engaging, instrumentally it remains largely exciting and unpredictable and one or the other melody remains in the ear long after listening to the record. If you like melodic / power metal in the style of Amaranthe and like to cross borders (in the metal area), you should definitely listen to these Swedes.
