Thor: Ragnarok

PG-13, 2h 10min, release 3.11.2017
My dear fellow movie maniacs, please don’t forget to bring tissues – this time to wipe away those tears of laughter.

It’s difficult to say which film in the Thor trilogy is the best – despite the grim topic Ragnarök this one is definitely the funniest. And yes, you will laugh for the right reasons, humour based on the characters’ self irony and all this special chemistry between humans, Asgardians and aliens… I only heard afterwards that director Taika Waititi gave the cast a lot of room for improvising lines and dialogue – a good choice for a cast feat. Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Carl Urban, Idris Elba and Benedict Cumberbatch – just to mention the major names. There are also several hilarious cameos (Matt Damon!) and plenty of more or less hidden gags and references which can only be appreciated fully on a DVD version …

And do not get me wrong here – this movie is packed with action, danger an drama, and everybody not only stays fully in character but even adds more depth and sincerity just because of this dose of humour. Once again it becomes obvious that a Loki without the charisma of Tom Hiddleston, a Thor without the kindness of Chris Hemsworth simply would not work at all. No need to mention brilliant Mark Ruffalo as Hulk … Besides other dangers, they have to face the destruction of Asgard by all-mighty Hela. Cate Blanchett combines higher management phrases with a really bitchy attitude – the dark twin of Galadriel indeed. And no more about the story to avoid spoilers…

Yet I have to mention the excellent choice of soundtrack when it comes to fight scenes, and that this rather awkward love-interest side-storyline was ditched.

Summing up, you will definitely be entertained, value for money!
