Jean Paul Gaultier: “Fashion Freak Show”

31/01 – 02/02/2020, Concert Hall “Oktyabrsky”, St. Petersburg, Russia

He just celebrated his last show after 50 years in the fashion industry (see video below). Yet the eccentric, scandalous, provocative, exuberant and funny Jean Paul Gaultier will probably continue thrilling us with his “Fashion Freak Show”. This new kind of entertainment between a revue and a fashion show was just recently visiting Russia for the first time and thus shaking up St. Petersburg. Here some exclusive snapshots from the press conference (photos: Julia Andreeva)

In this extraordinary production, actors, dancers and circus artists take to the stage and play outlandish, passionate, larger than life, rude, sexy, sassy creatures and personalities. The show also pays tribute to those who have inspired Jean Paul Gaultier in film (Pedro Almodovar, Luc Besson), music (Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Mylène Farmer) and dance (Régine Chopinot, Angelin Prejlocaj). For this show, Jean Paul Gaultier designed new exclusive outfits for an exuberant scenography and collaborated with the best in their field, e.g. actress, scriptwriter and co-director of the show, Tonie Marshall, and Marion Motin (Madonna, Christine and the Queens, Stromae, RESISTE, the musical…) for choreography.
