Credic – Agora

Label: Green Zone  Playing Time: 52 Min  Release 12th October 2018

Credic are quite a young band from Stuttgart (Germany). These guys have been making music together for two years now. As far as I know, they did not make much of experience in any other well-known metal band before so far. These two facts do actually fit roughly 99% of the bands in Rock and Metal music. Why I mention it? Because Agora, the first album of the band,  sounds surprisingly “mature”. In this case it does not mean old fashioned or covered with dust because this album is everything but. With “mature” I mean that the band does not make the same mistakes that most others usually make on their first albums: Credic do not try to imitate their idols and missing out on any original ingredients.

Their idols are In Flames and Dark Tranquillity. Of course you can hear that. Nevertheless: Credic are far away from being a copy of those bands. Instead, they are presenting a quite variable mixture of melodic Death Metal on “Agora”. It offers a variety from faster stuff like ‘Alternate Ending’ to more relaxed melodic songs like ‘The Eye Of The Storm’.

“Agora” is a very good first album for Credic. Fans of melodic Death Metal can pick it without hesitation because even the production is state of the art. In the future the band should focus a bit more on hook lines and choruses so that more of the songs turn into ear candy. Some songs would also benefit from shortening. But all in all, both thumbs up!
