Municipal Waste – Slime and Punishment

Label: Nuclear Blast  Playing Time: 29 Min  Release: 23rd June 2017

When 14 songs last only 29 minutes, it is quite obvious, that there won’t be any extensive arrangements. And that’s what Municipal Waste did on their 6th studio album: Rough riff eruptions, which dither between Metal, Punk and Hardcore and between less than one minute and a little bit more than two minutes. There is not much time to take a breath, but also not to develop a song. Especially if melodies are obsolete and most riffs are played too fast to recognise or remind any details. The only way to tell the songs apart is the chorus. However, chorus is actually the wrong word because mostly it consists of some gang shouts of the song’s title.

All in all, this is an “ultra” release: Ultra fast, ultra heavy, ultra simple, but also ultra boring. Next time, I think about destroying the whole world, I think about choosing this one as my soundtrack. Until then, it will gather digital dust.
