Myall-Lake – The System Will Fail

Release: 17.03.2017 Label: Non Stop Music

“The System will Fail” is the second album from Berne-based rock band Myall-Lake, who have played together since the 1980s. Only in 2009, they released their debut album, “Reborn”, which was well received. Musicwise, the Swiss band plays Rock with solid guitar riffs but without too many frills and extras. The vocals are alright, the songs simple but versatile with good arrangement, and you can’t say anything bad about the lyrics either. My personal recommendations are: “Diamonds And Gold” and “Out of my Mind”. Why they picked “Icebreaker” to shoot a video for, I don’t quite understand. They have far better songs.

All in all, one cannot find fault with many things on this record but I don’t get that wow factor, either. There’s nothing really special here, at least not for me. What I do hear are five men, who really seem to love what they do. But, I believe, as the album title suggests, the “system will fail” to succeed. But, not every band can be as successful as the Rolling Stones. The main thing is that they have fun. When the guys continue to be passionate about their music, then I’m sure people will fall in love with them, too.
