The Greek Fallen Arise, which are in Northern Europe only known to connoisseurs of fine art at the margins of commerce (or let’s simply call them “truffle pigs”), are about to release their 2nd album named “Adeline” soon. It is an ambitious concept about a cursed woman called – surprise! – Adeline. The story is embedded in progressive Symphonic Metal which has the atmosphere of musical theater. The songs rarely work with a clear verse-chorus-scheme because they are arranged along the storyline. The songs are enriched with detailed orchestral parts, which sometimes support the Metal basis and sometimes also stand alone. Moreover, both male and female vocalists bring a lot of diversity to the sound.

All in all, “Adeline” is a multi-layered, complex album which can compete with the best of best of the genre, at least concerning its vocal and orchestral arrangements. But this is not the case when it comes to catchiness and recognition value. After 7 or 8 times listening to it, only ‘Divine Bride’ and ‘My Last Breath’ stuck in my mind – not quite enough! But despite this deficit, “Adeline” has turned out to be a great work  of art which should make every truffle pig happy!
