Feline Melinda – Three Decades (Live at the Kultursaal Theatre)

For more than 30 years, the band Feline Melinda from South Tirol has already been around. They can look back on countless live gigs and records. Time flies by and then you suddenly realise you have shared the stage and played music together for decades.

To celebrate their 30th anniversary, the band came up with a special idea. On October 22nd, 2016, the played a benefit concert, together with twenty guests on stage, in St. Michael Eppan, which was also recorded. The gig had it all: dancers, a choir, musicians. The collected money was donated to the local Peter Pan foundation, which helps children suffering from cancer. A noble thought to use this event for a good cause.

Besides their own songs, Feline Melinda played a few covers, such as “Phantom of the Opera” or “It’s my Life” – singer Rob Irbiz was supported by Doris Albenberger here. The band not only focussed on their Melodic Hard Rock but they also did a few acoustic versions of their songs. And, especially, these acoustic parts I like a lot because it really is something very different.

It’s a pleaseant mix between fast and slow songs and of course, you will find all the band’s best songs on the live album as well. I think, it’s an excellent anniversary album, which might help them win over some new fans, too. Those, who did not hear of a band called Feline Melinda in the last 30 years. It’s a great live record from Rob Irbiz, Chris Platzer, Gschnell and Headmatt. Here’s to the next 30 years in the music business!
