Septic Tank – Rotting Civilisation

Label: Rise Above Records  Plaing Time: 40 Min  Release: 13th April 2018

After the retirement of the legendary Cathedral in 2012, mastermind Lee Dorrian reactivated his old Grindcore force Septic Tank, whose origin lies back in the 90s. They released an EP in 2013, but it was only available in Japan and it was limited to only 900 copies. Therefore needs “Rotting Civilization” to show the rest of the world what time it is.

If you take a closer look at the playing times of the  tracks, it becomes obvious what you’ll find on this album.  18 tracks, mostly short and brutal, no unnecessary parts, no nerve robbing intros, no bullshit at all! Septic Tank combined the brutality of Napalm Death with the dirt of Motörhead (R.I.P.). So at most times the gas pedal is floored to the max, but there are also some songs in mid tempo pace that reveal Lee’s past in Doom Metal.

The critic lyrics of Septic Tank are very relevant, but I am not sure if the music is relevant either. The choruses (if you can talk of something like that) are not catchy, the riffs total average, and leads or other stuff that would give the songs some color are mostly absent. Therefore this one is not my cup of tea. Maybe moshers who are more into the combination of Napalm Death and Motörhead might be more enthusiastic about it.
