Shakra – Mad World

AFM Records    Release Date: 28.02.2020

25 years Shakra – a long time, that shows me once again how old I am. I have known this band since their beginnings when singer Mark Fox wasn’t part of the band yet, I was there when he joined the band as a new singer and the band began to become popular in the Heavy Metal scene. I was there when Mark Fox left the band and returned just a few years later, and I am happy to be still part of it – now 25 years later. “Mad World” is the new album of the band: three years after their last release “Snakes & Ladders”, they are back with a really awesome record.

It seems to me as if Shakra have once again developed further a lot, music wise. The songs all offer lot of power and are played to the point. No matter if it is the title track “Mad World” , “Fireline” or my favorite “Thousand Kings”, there are many great Heavy Metal tracks on this album and the track list order is just perfectly chosen. The only ballad on the album “New Tomorrow” was placed as the last track on purpose, so that you can keep the good mood created by all the other songs before. The songs often deal with the topic of a world that is changing and suffering, surely a topic that not only concerns Shakra but also all of us.

To me “Mad World” is one of the best records Shakra have released so far, perhaps even the best. Go and get it.
